Buttrio - Overview
The harmony and equilibrium between vineyards and woodlands, the splendid views over Lower Friuli to the south and the Alps to the north, is in itself a good enough reason to visit Buttrio.
The elegant villas and residences, such as Villa di Toppo Florio, Villa Dragoni and Morpurgo Castle, bear witness to the charm and beauty that have characterised this area for centuries.
No less remarkable is the work of man who has managed to obtain excellent wines from these hills, wines that can be tasted, along with gastronomic specialities, in the Buttrio wine shop or one of the many cellars scattered across the area.
A mark of the wine productions excellence is the now well-known Regional Wine Fair held annually in the last week of April and first week of May.
The town's economy, once predominantly agricultural, can today boast handicraft and industrial development of considerable note.
This is an area that offers revitalising walks capable of reawakening those torpid sensations that will be more than satisfied by the local food and wine.
